DAIRY FREE CHICKEN FRIED STEAK
Down south this is the holy grail of steak! A nice flank or round steak covered in crispy goodness fried to perfection covered in gravy. What could make this better you ask? IT being low carb, keto and dairy free!
INGREDIENTS:
For the meat:
20oz of flank steak or round steak (Take some time to tenderize it with a tenderizer!)
8 TBS avocado oil
Salt and pepper to taste
For the first coating:
1 cup egg white protein powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
Egg wash:
3 eggs
2nd coating:
3/4 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
Gravy:
40g onion
30g carrot
15g garlic
1 Tbsp avocado oil
1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
1 cup beef broth
RECIPE STEPS:
Gravy time!
Chop up onions, garlic and carrots and saute in pan with 1 Tbsp oil until golden brown.
Add in mushrooms and broth and let simmer for 15 mins
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend. Salt and pepper to taste
Next the meat!
Add oil to a pan and turn to medium high heat
Prepare each coating and egg wash stations. Add meat to first coating and cover well. Shake off and then add to egg wash. Then shake off once more and add to the second coating.
Place steak directly in pan with the oil and cook for 5 mins on both sides or until each side is golden brown.
Top with gravy and enjoy!
