TKR Holiday Gift Guide!
The deadlines for online shopping are rapidly approaching and the crowds at the mall are growing, and you still need to find the perfect gift for the ketogenic dieter on your list. I hope that this guide will give you some ideas to help you find that perfect gift this holiday season! I am breaking this guide into three categories: Keto Foodies, Keto Home Chefs & Keto Lifestyle Gifts. I think they break down your options and get your brain working on your hunt. Luckily I have the whole team here at The Keto Road joining in with their favorite gift ideas too!
Keto Foodies
For me Foodie means a willingness to be a little adventurous with tastes and ingredients, and maybe an eye on trends. These gift ideas should be pleasers for the Keto Foodie in your life. If you are buying a food gift this year, I do want to encourage you to be a good label reader because the “Keto” label carries little weight when it comes to actually identifying a good keto gift. Watch out for added sugars, flours and fillers that might make your “perfect” gift idea a no-go for the recipient.
Get Spicy!
A great place to start is with sugar-free spices, spice blends and salts. When you’re eating a lot of ground beef or steak a new spice blend can open up a whole new world of flavor. Coach Berto suggests these great Spice Jars for easy display and access, especially if you buy some bulk spices. I am always a fan of the seasoned salts from Redmond Real Salt, like Garlic Pepper & Lemon Pepper. Click here to check them out and use code GORMY to save 15%!
All the Meats!
I think here your best bet is finding local sources. You might be able to find a local farm providing awesome options. You can definitely also grab an easy gift with a subscription to the Carnivore Club for charcuterie friendly cured meats, Bacon Bros air-dried beef makes a great snack, or take Coach Jon’s suggestion and go for a gift card to Butcher Box for grass fed, pasture raised options.
Say Cheese!
Putting together a basket full of different gourmet cheeses can be a great gift. Or maybe an assortment from Carr Valley directly so your ketogenic recipient can get all of the flavors of their awesome Bread Cheese delivered. Easy cheesy stocking stuffers include Moon Cheese, Whisps and Parm Crisps!
Snack Time!
In addition to the cheese snacks above you can find some great ideas for keto friendly snacks that offer some new tastes and flavors. Don’t sleep on pickled vegetables, artisanal mustards, and even authentic kimchi. Gifts can require refrigeration, don’t let that hold you back. A sampler from Pork King Good Pork Rinds is an awesome snack surprise, or Coach Jon’s favorite keto friendly tortilla chips from HiLo Life!
Keto Home Chefs
These are the gifts that help make healthy keto cooking fun and easy! These are great gifts for people who are new to the kitchen or life long pros with an eye towards the keto side of things.
Blend It Up!
Whether they’re making a keto coffee, homemade mayo or fun sauces, smaller tools that make blending them up easier can help without the need to pull out a full sized blender or food processor. Coach Amy recommends a Bonsenkitchen Milk Frother or a KitchenAid Hand Blender.
Cut It Out!
Whether they’re slicing up a steak or carving up a head of cauliflower, no kitchen is complete without great knives. Bare minimum a good pairing knife and chef’s knife are useful, and you cannot beat a Zwilling JA Henkels set! Great steak knives and solid kitchen shears are good ideas too.
Recipe Round-Up!
There are so many great keto cookbooks you can find in bookstore or on Amazon. This year I would definitely recommend Frank Campanella’s Easy Keto Diet for Beginners, Maria Emmerich’s Keto Air Fryer Recipes and Michael Silverstein’s New Keto Cooking. Coach Amy suggests Kristie Sullivan’s Keto Living Day-By-Day too. If it’s last minute, don’t forget Aaron Duprey’s Keto Crossover Hits PDF you can get here.
Presentation Matters!
Great simple gifts that make presenting a new kitchen creation easy can be a fun gift like this Cheese Board/Knife Set suggested by Coach Jon. They can also help ensure kitchen success like Coach Berto’s favorite Digital Meat Thermometer. One of my favorite gifts I got last year was a mixed box of single plates from my sister in different shapes and styles.
Keto Lifestyle Gifts
The ketogenic lifestyle is about so much more than just hitting your macros and these gifts are meant to not only support a ketogenic diet but also the pursuit of health in general! I have included a few ideas for things that can help make keto a sustainable lifestyle as well.
Keto Extras! (Aka Useful Supplements!)
Let’s be honest, when your budget is tight like many folks’ are right now giving useful needed gifts can be important. Do a little investigating into the electrolytes, protein powders and more that your friend/loved one likes, or check out Coach Amy’s favorite ideas from KetoVitals Electrolytes and KetoGenics Protein Powders.
I Like to Move It!
If the person you have in mind has told you they’re working on finding new ways to get active, a pair of good sneakers, gift card for new gym wear, or something like Coach Amy’s suggested Undersun Resistance Bands for home workouts can be good ideas. Side note, make sure these are something the person has expressed interest in and you avoid any awkward “Hey I think you need to exercise!” moments!! lol
Be Our Guest!
While many folk living a ketogenic lifestyle will like the gifts that support home cooking, everyone likes to have a meal out now and then. Look for local eateries with great keto options, like a steak house or Brazilian BBQ, or even chains like Five Guys and Chipotle.
Fill the Book Shelf!
Lastly, one of the great things about keto is there is always more to learn and we don’t often think to buy ourselves a good book. Coach Berto suggests Phinney and Volek’s The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance, and I would throw in Jacob Wilson and Ryan Lowery’s The Ketogenic Bible, and KetoConnect’s Megha & Matt’s Keto Made Easy.
I hope that this tour through my and the team’s thoughts on keto gifts is helpful! We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
